Frequently Asked Questions

Ovulation typically occurs 14 days before your next period, regardless of cycle length. For a 28-day cycle: day 14. For a 32-day cycle: day 18. For a 25-day cycle: day 11. The fertile window is 5 days before ovulation + the day of ovulation, as sperm can survive up to 5 days in the fallopian tubes.
The fertile window is the 6 days when conception is possible — the 5 days before ovulation and the day of ovulation itself. The egg survives only 12–24 hours after release. Having intercourse on the 2 days before and on the day of ovulation gives the highest pregnancy probability (around 25–30% per cycle).
Signs of ovulation: 1) Change in cervical mucus (becomes clear, stretchy, egg-white consistency). 2) Slight temperature rise of 0.2–0.5°C after ovulation (basal body temperature). 3) Mild pelvic pain (Mittelschmerz) on one side. 4) LH surge on ovulation predictor kits (OPKs). 5) Breast tenderness. OPKs are the most reliable home method.
This calculator assumes a regular cycle. Irregular cycles (varying by 7+ days) make ovulation prediction difficult. Track your cycle for 3–6 months to find your average. Better tools for irregular cycles include basal body temperature (BBT) tracking, cervical mucus monitoring, and OPKs used daily from cycle day 8 onwards.
