Frequently Asked Questions
W(kg/m) = (OD − WT) × WT × 0.02466 for carbon steel (density 7.85 g/cm³). For other materials, multiply by the density ratio.
Schedule (SCH) indicates wall thickness. SCH 40 has a thinner wall and is used for standard pressure applications. SCH 80 has a thicker wall for higher pressures. SCH 160 is used for very high pressure service.
NB (Nominal Bore) is the approximate internal diameter in mm, used as a standard reference size. The actual OD is fixed per standard (ANSI/ASME B36.10), while wall thickness varies by schedule.
OD values follow ANSI/ASME B36.10M for carbon steel pipes and B36.19M for stainless steel pipes. Wall thicknesses follow ASME schedules.
