Frequently Asked Questions

JSON (JavaScript Object Notation) is a text-based data format used to store and exchange structured data. It is human-readable and widely used in APIs, configuration files, and databases.
Formatting (beautifying) adds indentation and line breaks to make JSON human-readable. Minifying removes all whitespace to reduce file size — useful for data transfer and storage.
Common JSON errors include: missing or extra commas, unquoted keys, single quotes instead of double quotes, trailing commas in arrays/objects, and special characters in strings not properly escaped.
JSON supports 6 types: strings (in double quotes), numbers, booleans (true/false), null, arrays (ordered lists in []), and objects (key-value pairs in {}).
They look similar, but JSON is stricter: all keys must be double-quoted strings, there are no undefined or function values, and no comments are allowed. JSON.parse() and JSON.stringify() convert between them.
JSON Schema is a vocabulary to validate the structure of JSON data — checking types, required fields, minimum/maximum values etc. This tool performs basic syntax validation only.
