Frequently Asked Questions

A ratio expresses the relative sizes of two or more quantities. The ratio 3:4 means for every 3 units of A there are 4 units of B. Ratios can be simplified, scaled, and converted to fractions, decimals, or percentages.
Divide both parts by their GCD (Greatest Common Divisor). Example: 12:18 → GCD(12,18)=6 → 12÷6 : 18÷6 = 2:3. A ratio is in simplest form when GCD=1.
Use cross multiplication. If A:B = C:D, then A×D = B×C → D = (B×C)/A. Example: 3:4 = 9:D → D = (4×9)/3 = 12. This is also written as A/B = C/D.
Divide the quantity into parts proportional to the ratio. Example: Divide ₹1000 in ratio 2:3 → total parts = 5 → Part A = ₹1000×2/5 = ₹400, Part B = ₹1000×3/5 = ₹600. Use the "To Percentage" tab to find each part's share.
